IKF Executive Body Meeting in Hyderabad Marks a New Chapter for Global Kabaddi
Hyderabad, 4 September 2026: The International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) convened its Executive Body Meeting in Hyderabad, bringing together leaders and representatives from across the international Kabaddi community to discuss the future direction, development, and global growth of the sport.
Held at the Grand Khasani Hotel, Hyderabad, the meeting marked an important milestone in IKF’s continued efforts to strengthen the organisation and establish Kabaddi as a truly global sport.
The newly elected Executive Body reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Kabaddi at the international level, with a clear focus on expanding the sport’s global footprint, strengthening international cooperation, enhancing governance and development, and pursuing a strategic pathway towards Kabaddi’s inclusion in the Olympic Games.
The meeting reflected the growing international reach of Kabaddi, with representatives from more than 40 countries attending in person, while representatives from over 20 additional countries participated virtually through Zoom. The strong participation demonstrated the increasing global interest in Kabaddi and the collective commitment of member countries to its future development.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the participation and address of IOC Member Mr. Humphrey Kayange Emonyi, who shared his valuable perspectives and message on the international development of Kabaddi. His presence added considerable significance to the proceedings and underscored the importance of building a strong, globally recognised sporting ecosystem for Kabaddi.
The discussions and deliberations during the meeting focused on creating a unified vision for the sport, strengthening collaboration among national and international stakeholders, and establishing a sustainable roadmap for Kabaddi’s continued growth.
