The International Kabaddi Federation is established on a not-for-profit basis and is dedicated to the worldwide development and administration of Kabaddi. Its official initials are “IKF” and its official seat is Jaipur, India.
A broad definition of the sport
The IKF statutes define Kabaddi broadly, covering Rectangular, Indoor, Beach and Circle Style Kabaddi as well as future variations of the game. An “Event” means a Kabaddi match, tournament or competition approved and/or controlled by the IKF and/or a Continental Federation.
The objects set out in the statutes
The statutes state the federation’s objects as encouraging, promoting, developing and controlling Kabaddi at all levels throughout the world. Alongside that, the IKF exercises jurisdiction over disputes between members, continental federations and athletes, and establishes and uniformly enforces the rules for all forms of Kabaddi and for international events.
The federation is also charged with establishing and maintaining an efficient international administration, preserving its independence in matters concerning Kabaddi, and supporting the ideals of the Olympic movement and the fight against doping.
Vision and mission
The IKF’s stated vision is to make Kabaddi a truly global sport — growing it as a respected, accessible and professionally administered international sport that connects athletes, national associations and communities across continents.
Its mission is summarised in four words: Promote. Develop. Govern. Inspire. In practice this means encouraging and developing Kabaddi worldwide, establishing uniform rules, supporting international events, developing officials and federations, and upholding fair play and anti-doping principles.
Strategic priorities
Three priorities turn that mission into action: grassroots development, expanding participation and building sustainable national and continental structures; elite competition, supporting high-quality international tournaments and qualifying pathways; and officials and education, strengthening the knowledge and accreditation of umpires, coaches and officials.
